TOMATO SALADETTE

The tomato saladette, scientifically known as Solanum lycopersicum, is a highly appreciated variety of tomato in the agricultural and food industry, especially for export. This variety is characterized by its exceptional organoleptic properties, its attractive appearance and its culinary versatility, which makes it a highly demanded product in international markets.

  • SIZE: Its transverse diameter ranges between 4 and 8 cm.
  • WEIGHT: Approximately between 100 and 150 g per piece.
  • COLOR: Shades ranging from yellowish to red due to the presence of lycopene and carotene pigments.
  • FLAVOR: It´s slightly acid.

Properties

It contains an important source of minerals such as potassium and magnesium, as well as vitamins B1, B2, B5, and C. It is a refreshing, diuretic, and highly nutritious vegetable, ideal for diets due to its low energy content (100 g of tomato provide barely 20 calories). It is a light vegetable as 95% of its composition is water.

SHELF LIFE

Tomatoes can be kept in good condition for approximately 10 to 15 days.

STORAGE

Tomatoes can be stored in cool and dry places. They can also be refrigerated to extend their shelf life.
